Born in 1974, Salauddin Ahmed began his musical journey under the guidance of his father. He later received formal training from Shri Nirmalendu Biswas and subsequently trained under the renowned classical music maestro Ustad A. Daud Sahib of India from 1978 onward. Since 1985, he has also studied Nazrul Sangeet, Bhajan, Thumri, and Ghazal under the distinguished Nazrul Sangeet exponent Pandit Sukumar Mitra of Kolkata.
Since 1989, he has been performing Nazrul Sangeet and Classical Music on Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar, where he currently holds the status of an enlisted special-grade artist. Since 2004, he has also been enlisted as a composer and music director. Since 1985, he has been actively performing and teaching music both nationally and internationally.
At present, he regularly teaches Nazrul Sangeet at the Nazrul Institute and conducts performances and workshops across all districts of Bangladesh under the Institute’s initiatives, including Nazrul conferences and training programs. He also serves as a music instructor for the cultural division of the Ansar and VDP Headquarters. In addition, he is currently a faculty member at the Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts and previously served as a part-time faculty member at the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam University.
From 1991 to 2010, he worked as a Senior Teacher of Nazrul Sangeet at the Bulbul Lalitakala Academy. He also served as an honored member of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) syllabus committee and authored the Grade Eight Nazrul Sangeet textbook.
His performances are regularly broadcast on almost all major television channels in Bangladesh, as well as on Indian channels including Tara TV, Akash Aath, and Doordarshan. Many established and emerging artists in Bangladesh have been trained under his guidance. His distinctive style and mastery of Nazrul Sangeet have earned admiration from Nazrul enthusiasts around the world.
Alongside performing and teaching, he has played an active role in the standardized notation development initiatives undertaken by the Nazrul Institute. He regularly performs Nazrul Sangeet at various events in Churulia, the birthplace of Kazi Nazrul Islam in West Bengal, and in Agartala, Tripura.
With the slogan “Jagao Prane Sur, Chitto Uthuk Geye” (“Awaken the soul with melody, let the heart rise in song”), he founded the music education and cultural organization Talim in 2007. Dedicated to the promotion of vocal music, the institution continues to train numerous students who regularly perform Nazrul Sangeet on various stages and at musical gatherings under his direction.
He is also the researcher and presenter of the widely acclaimed Nazrul Sangeet discussion-based solo radio program Dolonchapa, regularly broadcast on Bangladesh Betar. The program has gained significant popularity across Bangladesh and various regions of India. He remains continuously devoted to the practice, performance, research, and preservation of Nazrul Sangeet, while mentoring the next generation of trained artists.
Publications and Writings
He authored the 18th and 25th volumes of the notation books published by the Nazrul Institute. As a member of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board syllabus committee, he actively contributed to the inclusion of music education from Grades Five to Ten and authored the Grade Eight Nazrul Sangeet textbook. His articles and research papers on Nazrul have been published in numerous national and international newspapers and journals.Personal Life
Artist Salauddin Ahmed leads a close-knit family life with his wife, Nasima Ahmed, and their only son, Nishat Ahmed. Nishat is receiving formal training in Classical Music and Nazrul Sangeet and actively performs music. After completing his BBA and MBA from the University of Dhaka, he is currently working in the Corporate Brand Department of Meghna Group of Industries (MGI).Released Cassettes and CDs

১৯৭৪ সালে পিতার কাছে হাতেখড়ি। তারপর শ্রী নির্মলেন্দু বিশ্বাসের কাছে শিক্ষা গ্রহণ, অতঃপর ভারতের প্রখ্যাত উচ্চাঙ্গ সঙ্গীতগুণী উস্তাদ এ. দাউদ সাহেবের কাছে ১৯৭৮ সাল থেকে তালিম গ্রহণ, সেই সাথে ১৯৮৫ সাল থেকে কলকাতার প্রখ্যাত নজরুল সঙ্গীতগুরু পণ্ডিত সুকুমার মিত্র মহাশয়ের কাছে নজরুল সঙ্গীত, ভজন, ঠুমরী ও গজলের তালিম গ্রহণ।
১৯৮৯ সাল থেকে বাংলাদেশ টেলিভিশান, বাংলাদেশ বেতারে নজরুল সঙ্গীত ও উচ্চাঙ্গ সঙ্গীত পরিবেশন করে আসছেন, বর্তমানে বিশেষ শ্রেণীভুক্ত শিল্পী। সেই সাথে ২০০৪ সাল থেকে সুরকার ও সঙ্গীত পরিচালক হিসেবে তালিকাভুক্ত। ১৯৮৫ সাল থেকে দেশ ও দেশের বাইরে সঙ্গীত পরিবেশন ও প্রশিক্ষণ দিয়ে আসছেন। বর্তমানে নজরুল ইন্সটিটিউটে নিয়মিত নজরুল সঙ্গীতের প্রশিক্ষণ দিচ্ছেন, সেই সাথে নজরুল ইন্সটিটিউটের উদ্যোগে দেশের সমস্ত জেলাতে নজরুল সম্মেলন ও কর্মশালা আয়োজনে সঙ্গীত পরিবেশন ও প্রশিক্ষণ দিয়ে আসছেন। আনসার ও ভিডিপি হেডকোয়ার্টারের সাংস্কৃতিক দলের সঙ্গীত প্রশিক্ষক হিসেবে নিয়োজিত আছেন। তাছাড়া বর্তমানে বাংলাদেশ একাডেমি অফ ফাইন আর্টস এর শিক্ষক হিসেবে নিযুক্ত আছেন এবং জাতীয় কবি কাজী নজরুল ইসলাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের খণ্ডকালীন শিক্ষক হিসেবে নিয়োজিত ছিলেন। ১৯৯১ সাল থেকে ২০১০ সাল পর্যন্ত বুলবুল ললিতকলা একাডেমীতে নজরুল সঙ্গীতের সিনিয়র শিক্ষক হিসেবে কর্মরত ছিলেন। একই সাথে জাতীয় পাঠ্যপুস্তক বোর্ডের সিলেবাস কমিটির সম্মানিত সদস্য হিসেবে কাজ করেছেন এবং অষ্টম শ্রেণীর নজরুল সঙ্গীত পুস্তকটি তাঁর রচনা। দেশের সরকারী ছাড়াও প্রায় সমস্ত বেসরকারি টিভি চ্যানেল ও ভারতবর্ষের তারা টিভি, আকাশ আট ও সরকারী দূরদর্শনে নিয়মিত তাঁর অনুষ্ঠান প্রচারিত হয়। বাংলাদেশে প্রতিষ্ঠিত ও নবীন কুশলী অনেক শিল্পীই তাঁর ছাত্রছাত্রী। নজরুলসঙ্গীতে তাঁর নিজস্ব বিশেষ গায়কী ও দক্ষতা সারা পৃথিবীর নজরুলপ্রেমী মানুষের কাছে প্রিয়। নজরুল সঙ্গীত পরিবেশন, প্রশিক্ষণের সাথে সাথে নজরুল ইন্সটিটিউটের উদ্যোগে প্রমিত স্বরলিপিকরণ কার্যক্রমে সক্রিয় ভূমিকা রাখছেন। পশ্চিমবঙ্গের নজরুলের জন্মস্থান চুরুলিয়া ও ত্রিপুরা রাজ্যের আগরতলায় নিয়মিত বিভিন্ন অনুষ্ঠানে নজরুল সঙ্গীত পরিবেশন করছেন। “জাগাও প্রাণে সুর, চিত্ত উঠুক গেয়ে” এই স্লোগান নিয়ে ২০০৭ সাল থেকে ‘তালিম’ নামে সঙ্গীত শিক্ষা ও চর্চা সংগঠন গড়ে উঠেছে তাঁর পরিচালনায়। কণ্ঠসঙ্গীত প্রসারে নিবেদিত এই প্রতিষ্ঠানে তাঁর পরিচালনায় তাঁর অসংখ্য ছাত্রছাত্রী নিয়মিত নজরুল সঙ্গীত বিষয়ক শ্রোতার আসরে বিভিন্ন মঞ্চে সঙ্গীত পরিবেশন করে আসছে। বাংলাদেশ বেতারে নিয়মিত প্রচারিত জনপ্রিয় নজরুল সঙ্গীতের আলাপচারিতামূলক বিশেষ একক অনুষ্ঠান ‘দোলনচাঁপা’ তিনি গবেষণা ও উপস্থাপনা করে থাকেন। অনুষ্ঠানটি বাংলাদেশসহ ভারতবর্ষের বিস্তীর্ণ এলাকায় অনেক জনপ্রিয়তা অর্জন করেছে। তিনি নিজে নিরন্তর নজরুল সঙ্গীতের সাধনা, পরিবেশনা, গবেষণা ও পরবর্তী প্রজন্মের জন্য প্রশিক্ষিত শিল্পী তৈরির কাজে সদা রত আছেন।
স্বরলিপি গ্রন্থ ও বিভিন্ন রচনা :
নজরুল ইন্সটিটিউট কর্তৃক প্রকাশিত স্বরলিপি গ্রন্থের অষ্টাদশ ও পঁচিশতম খণ্ড দুটি তাঁর লেখা। জাতীয় পাঠ্যপুস্তক বোর্ডের সিলেবাস বোর্ডের সদস্য হিসেবে পঞ্চম থেকে দশম শ্রেণী পর্যন্ত সঙ্গীতকে অন্তর্ভুক্ত করার কাজে সক্রিয়ভাবে সহযোগীতা করেছেন এবং অষ্টম শ্রেণীর নজরুল সঙ্গীতের পাঠ্যপুস্তক রচনা করেছেন। দেশ ও দেশের বাইরে বিভিন্ন পত্রপত্রিকায় তাঁর নজরুল বিষয়ক বিভিন্ন প্রবন্ধ প্রকাশিত হয়েছে এবং হচ্ছে।
ব্যক্তিগত জীবন :
শিল্পী সালাউদ্দিন আহমেদের ছোট সংসার, সংসারে স্ত্রী নাসিমা আহমেদ ও একমাত্র পুত্র নিশাত আহমেদ। নিশাত উচ্চাঙ্গ ও নজরুল সঙ্গীতে পদ্ধতিগত শিক্ষা গ্রহণ করছে ও সঙ্গীত পরিবেশন করছে ; ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে বিবিএ ও এমবিএ শেষ করে বর্তমানে মেঘনা গ্রুপ অব ইন্ডাস্ট্রিজ (এমজিআই)-এর কর্পোরেট ব্র্যান্ড বিভাগে কর্মরত।
